DC SHOWCASE: CATWOMAN (2011)
El último cortometraje animado realizado hasta la fecha de la serie DC Showcase, centrado esta vez en Catwoman.
El cortometraje, del año 2011 y 15 minutos de duración, está dirigido por Laureen Montgomery, en cuyo curriculum encontramos la dirección de las siguientes películas, todas para Warner Bros. Animation: Green Lantern First Flight (2009), Wonder Woman (2009), Superman/Batman: Apocalipsis (2010), y Justice League: Doom (2012), así como la co-dirección junto a Sam Liu, de Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths (2010) y Batman: Year One (2011). Se trata pues de una directora experta y veterana en estas lides.
El corto cuenta con la producción ejecutiva de Bruce Timm y con guión de Paul Dini. Fue incluido como bonus en la edición en DVD del largometraje Batman: Year One.
Nos encontramos en líneas generales con un buen corto, si bien tal vez un peldaño (o dos) por debajo de los cuatro de la misma serie dirigidos por Joaquim Dos Santos (que a decir verdad, rozaban la perfección). Y no, no voy a caer en la tentación de compararlo con la Catwoman de Halle Berry y Pitof. Eso que os ahorráis.
En cuanto a la acción, la secuencia con efectos digitales de la persecución en moto recuerda un poco a la vista en Matrix: Reloaded. Y la última escena, con la grúa volcando sobre sí misma, remite de inmediato a la del camión del The Dark Knight de Nolan.
